More than just a café, Hannah's Café is a place to slow down, relax and experience the warmth and hospitality of the Ida Valley.

Nestled within the grounds of Historic Hayes, Hannah's Café is a favourite stop for Otago Central Rail Trail riders, travellers and locals alike. Housed in a replica of the cottage where Hannah and Ernest Hayes once raised their family, the café offers a unique blend of history, country charm and genuine Central Otago hospitality.

Enjoy freshly brewed coffee, hearty lunches, homemade baking and our famous cheese scones, while taking in the peaceful garden surroundings. Whether you're looking for a quick coffee, a leisurely lunch or a well-earned break on your journey, Hannah's Café provides the perfect place to recharge. Cool drinks, ice creams and complimentary water refills are available to help prepare you for the next leg of your adventure.

Our menu features fresh, seasonal food, with many ingredients sourced from our heritage gardens. From delicious cabinet food and wholesome lunches to our legendary cakes and sweet treats, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Engineering Works Operating Tours & Homestead & Garden Tours
Travelling with a group? Operating machinery demonstrations, guided homestead and heritage garden tours can be arranged throughout the season, creating a memorable and engaging experience for clubs, tour groups, schools and special-interest visitors. – bookings required.

Whether you're stopping for coffee, lunch, history or simply a chance to unwind, Hannah's Café offers a memorable Central Otago experience that combines heritage, hospitality and homemade goodness.

Facilities

Historic Hayes offers wheelchair access to Hannah's Café, the engineering workshop, farm buildings, gardens and toilet facilities. Please note that much of the site is grassed with no formed pathways, which may make navigation difficult for some wheelchairs.
