Argyle Oturehua

Argyle Oturehua is the accommodation offering of Murray and Helen Tonkin, in the quaint small village of Oturehua, Central Otago.

The cabin, situated on their land consists of 2 x queen bedrooms with en-suites, off a central deck and small kitchen. It's compact, clean, warm and perfect as a base for exploring the relatively untouched landscapes of the Ida Valley and the Maniototo.

Argyle Oturehua

Murray and Helen Tonkin are originally Southlanders, who lived in the North Island for many years. On one of their trips South they passed through the valley and loved it. In November 2019 they relocated to Central Otago, settling in the village of Oturehua.

Not ready to retire Helen and Murray built a modern 2 bedroom cabin in 2023, naming it ‘Argyle’. The name comes from Murray's family farm in Taramoa in Southland. Murray and his siblings were the 5th generation to be raised on the farm from his mothers side, with the name Argyle coming with his ancestors from Scotland. With the name having such innate meaning to Murray and Helen, it was rather lovely that they carried it forward into this venture of hosting others.

They warmly welcome you to come and stay.
