Queenstown

The "adventure capital of the world" - Queenstown on the shores of Lake Wakatipu is also surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery.

About Queenstown

While not on the Rail Trail, Queenstown airport is one of the gateways to the Trail. You have the chance to be a daredevil here - throw yourself off bridges attached to bungy ropes, raft down rivers, skydive, canyon swing, jump off a mountainside on a paraglider, hurtle through river canyons in thrilling jet boat rides, ski in winter, cruise down the lake on an old steam ship... or if you like your feet on the ground, Queenstown is on the doorstep to some of New Zealand's most famous tramping tracks.

You could step back in time and visit the historic goldmining town, Arrowtown, and of course there are shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, nightclubs...
