Welcome to the birthplace of Central Otago wine. You’ll find us just under an hour’s drive from Queenstown airport, outside the picturesque town of Clyde, adjacent to the Rail Trail.
Monte Christo Winery
Founded in 1864 by Jean Désiré Féraud, Monte Christo Winery is the birthplace of Central Otago wine. Our restored 19th-century winery now serves as a welcoming cellar door, offering tastings in authentic historic surroundings just 400m from the Rail Trail.
Stop in for a tasting flight in our Cellar Door, or book an educational Winery Tour and a Private Tasting in our Underground Cellar for a deeper look into our winemaking and sustainable practices.
Make the most of your visit with a relaxed afternoon in our garden, complete with a children’s play area and pétanque court. Enjoy seasonal dishes from Fritzy, our on-site food trailer, serving European-inspired small plates, pizzas, platters, ice cream, and specialty coffee.
