Built in 1885, the historic Wedderburn Tavern is situated in the heart of the Maniototo Plain on the Central Otago Rail Trail. Once the preferred stop-over for coaches and wagons, it is now the favourite destination for Rail Trail cyclists.
Open year round, this historic hotel offers a great choice of Central Otago wines, cold beers, city-style coffees, lunches and a la carte evening meals. Accommodation, available between October and May, includes continental breakfast.
Stay in the 140-year old mud brick musterers' quarters, which has one double bed and one single bed.
The original Wedderburn Tavern dairy, also built of sun-dried mud bricks, has two singles beds or a king bed.
Three comfortable bedrooms in the tavern.
In addition, we have a family room with games, TV, DVD and a cosy fire.
Located close to the summit and at the halfway point of the Rail Trail, Wedderburn is the perfect stop to explore and experience the uniqueness of Central Otago.
You can choose to stay in either authentic and rustic mudbrick accommodation or in our tavern bedrooms. Tariffs include continental buffet breakfast as well as coffee and tea during your stay. Group and family discounts available.
