Trail Places

This is one of the most popular and scenic short trips or walks on the trail, where you enter the beautiful Wild West-type country of the Upper Taieri Gorge.

Even the name appeals to your senses, makes you want to toss that bike and roll in the long, cool grass. From the Daisybank road crossing, the track follows the river down to Tiroiti. You are allowed to be imaginative with photos at the Red Dwarf Hut – one of the few remaining original “Gangers sheds.” Just south of the hut is the Daisybank campsite and picnic spot, where you can easily reach the river and find nature as it has always been – a peaceful glade, shady willow trees, rugged cliffs, clear water (perfect for a swim), wildflowers in spring and summer – the Trail is all about R&R too!
