Ranfurly Station

Ranfurly Station, built in 1898, was the line's main crew and engine change-over station.  As recently as 1983 it had a Stationmaster, Office Assistant, Traffic Operator (Shunter), Train Examiner, Inspector Permanent way and his assistant, a Track Gang and a Bridge Gang.

Ranfurly Station has been remodeled a few times, but is now the Ranfurly Visitor Centre.  Inside you can enjoy a "virtual" train ride and see a dramatic display dedicated to the 1943 Hyde train tragedy.

Address: Charlemont Street East, Ranfurly,
