No-one's quite sure, but locals say it used to be a creamery. Today this 1880's stone farm building has a new lease on life as imaginative self-contained accommodation delivering everything the Rail Trail cyclist, walker or horse rider could want. And then some! Like a mini-lake stocked with trout (remember to bring your fishing license) and deep enough for a cooling plunge or romantic row under a star-studded Strath Taieri evening sky.

On the 20 hectares of surrounding farmland are fallow deer, cute kuni kuni pigs and free range hens producing genuine farm fresh eggs. Plus there's grazing for horse riders and plenty of parking for those who have driven to Middlemarch to start their Rail Trail experience.

The transformation of this stone building has to be seen to be believed. The layout is studio style with a dormitory bedroom accommodating up to six on two double below/single above bunk beds. In the bathroom the shower boasts a super size shower head. There's also a washing machine and dryer (so no having to take dirty washing back home with you).

The separate, fully equipped kitchen has a gas cook top and microwave (pick your own veges or salad ingredients from host Fleur and Dean's garden). Outdoors there's plenty of sun shelter and wonderful views, and should the temperature drop, stoke up the outdoor fire pit and put another on the barbie. Early in 2009 you can add 'hot tub' to outdoor activities.
