When Church Mouse accommodation opened in 2010 it added heaven to Naseby's many attractions. Unsurprisingly this stunning conversion of the village's historic Catholic Church never fails to elicit a 'wow' from guests. Everything about Church Mouse has 'wow factor'. The standard of workmanship by builder-owner Phil Flanagan, the attention to décor detail by partner Susie Farrell, the creative use of space that takes nothing from the dignity of the building. The bathroom also tends to win a 'wow' all of its own, particularly from guests who are cycling or walking the Otago Central Rail Trail. The focus of their 'wow' is the deep, free-standing and double ended bath with room for two. As anyone who has done the Rail Trail will tell you, at the end of a day a bath can be a godsend.
A mezzanine floor with a king size bed gives a fabulous view down through the nave to the entrance lobby and its stained glass window. Other accommodation includes bedroom with two single beds and a third single bed in a nook under the mezzanine staircase. Very much open plan, the nave features two comfy sofas, dining table and modern kitchen fully equipped for self-catering. For those long daylight hours of summer a sheltered courtyard is accessed by French doors. There's a handy bike stand in the courtyard. A heat pump works to cool on hot days and heat when temperatures drop.
Right in the heart of Naseby, Church Mouse is only a few minutes walk from the general store, pubs and Black Forest Cafe.
