Clean air, no industrial pollution and many cloudless days are reasons given by NIWA for siting its only New Zealand atmospheric research laboratory at Lauder. Now with the opening of Pedal Inn, you'll be staying on the 485 hectare farm that's NIWA's nearest neighbour. Just 200 metres from the Rail Trail at the Lauder Station site, Pedal Inn's elevated location also affords breathtaking views of the Hawkdun and other ranges surrounding the Manuherikia Valley.

This stylish purpose-built accommodation villa offers two private self-contained studio units each with two single beds (king singles in one) ensuite bathroom and kitchenette that has a cooktop, microwave, fridge and sink (tea, coffee, milk and all crockery and cutlery supplied). Two single trundler beds are available to take accommodation capacity to six. Wheelchair access and disabled bathroom in one of the units.  Guests are welcome to wander over the farm or just chill out on the deck outside their unit enjoying the clean, pollution-free air and cloudless sky.
